NEWS FLASH! SECRET LONG LOST MANUSCRIPT FOUND!

FOR OVER HALF A CENTURY RAMPA'S FASCINATING NARRATIVES HAVE BROUGHT GREAT JOY AND ENLIGHTENMENT TO MILLIONS WORLDWIDE

Always at the center of controversy, T Lobsang Rampa initially came to the attention of the public in the l950's. THE THIRD EYE received wide acclaim by a public that was just beginning to awaken to diverse forms of spirituality.

WHAT MADE RAMPA DIFFERENT from other "teachers," is he did not push any of his experiences down the throats of others, but in a simple, humble fashion, told of a more peaceful, serene life style which had come to him after years of hardship in his homeland. Tibet had been invaded by the Chinese communists, and many monks and adepts had to flee for their lives. But Rampa was able to survive due t his deep understanding and application of cosmic laws he had learned from several sources, including masters of the planet Venus, as well as beings from the Inner Earth.

What makes Rampa's books so unique is that they are NOT transferred through channeling, but by way of self experience in the REAL WORLD. The many topics in his works has included:

O The Death Process On The "Other Side."
O The Earth's Far Past.
O Contact With Space People.
O The Human Aura.
O Telepathy And Clairvoyance.
O Astral Travel And Life Forms on Other Dimensions.
O The Aksahic Records.

RAMPA HAS LEFT THE PHYSICAL PLANE, yet his teachings continue to attract new followers every day. any do not realize that Rampa's books were written over several decades and that he has transcended from the physical plane.

Unfortunately, even though he authored 30 books, the majority were never published in the U.S. Recently a manuscript was uncovered detailing Rampa's travels to Agharta, the capitol of the Inner Earth near Tibet. Along with this length -- previously unpublished -- work the published has collected excerpts from his prior works that have not been issued before, making this a true collectors edition you will want to own.

Amazon.com Review

Connie Willis labored five years on this story of a history student in 2048 who is transported to an English village in the 14th century. The student arrives mistakenly on the eve of the onset of the Black Plague. Her dealings with a family of "contemps" in 1348 and with her historian cohorts lead to complications as the book unfolds into a surprisingly dark, deep conclusion. The book, which won Hugo and Nebula Awards, draws upon Willis' understanding of the universalities of human nature to explore the ageless issues of evil, suffering and the indomitable will of the human spirit.

Review

“A stunning novel that encompasses both suffering and hope. . . . The best work yet from one of science fiction’s best writers.”—The Denver Post “Splendid work—brutal, gripping and genuinely harrowing, the product of diligent research, fine writing and well-honed instincts, that should appeal far beyond the normal science-fiction constituency.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)“The world of 1348 burns in the mind’s eye, and every character alive that year is a fully recognized being. . . . It becomes possible to feel . . . that Connie Willis did, in fact, over the five years Doomsday Book took her to write, open a window to another world, and that she saw something there.”—The Washington Post Book World

In summary, a graduate level history student travels back in time to do research on the Middle Ages. Pandemic occurs in both time lines. Chaos ensues as efforts are made, amid the current day crisis to rescue the student. This dual Hugo and Nebula Award winning science fiction novel certainly generates opinions all over the spectrum. Having recently completed the work, I can verify every negative comment contained in the dozens of "one star" reviews. Without question, the book is extremely frustrating in its repetition and refusal to resolve simple matters. As a result, what could have been a well crafted 400 page novel becomes a 550 page slog.In addition, fans of "hard" science fiction will be extremely disappointed in what is essentially historical fiction with time travel thrown in as an afterthought. There is very little explanation or "science" involved, beyond the simple declarations of what occurs. Many others have documented very well the "plot holes", inconsistencies and nonsensical threads that detract from a "hard" science fiction reader's enjoyment of the story. Readers of Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein or Philip Dick will not stand quietly by.In fact, with few exceptions, there is very little to differentiate 2050 Oxford from 1970 Oxford. Tossing a "time machine" into the history lab and putting video screens on the rotary phones hardly elevates a novel into the realm of science fiction. Did this novel truly win both the Hugo and Nebula Awards? Really???That said, this novel has many ardent fans. Those readers simply enjoy a good story and don't need everything to make sense or fall neatly into place. I enjoyed some of the work, but am simply too anal to look past many of the problems cited above and by others. Too many fine writers have penned outstanding stories AND gotten the science and the plot lines correct to label this work anything close to a masterpiece. The idea that the Dean of an Oxford College would be completely incommunicado in the year 2050 for nearly a month is too absurd to consider.Consider the matter of communications. Much of the book involves numerous unsuccessful efforts to reach others by telephone, the only difference between communications in 1950 and 2050 being a video screen. Now, some have excused the author's failure to account for advanced communications technology (aka cell phones) by arguing that cell phones were not pervasive when this novel was written in 1992. However, I'm pretty sure bag phones and even clunky cell and satellite phones WERE in existence. Other science fiction writers have shown remarkable vision in forecasting the future. Their work, as a result, remains timeless. This novel, on the other hand, reads silly only 15 years after its publication. H.G. Wells was describing submarines and rocket ships 100 years ahead of his time. Connie Willis fails to recognize cell phones even after their introduction. That is the difference between classic science fiction and run of the mill two/three star work.

This may have turned out to be a great book if I were only able to stay awake. The author spent far too much time explaining every single detail of every scene and used far too many words for unimportant stuff. I was reminded of reading Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" where I had to simply skim over large parts just to get to the point. I finally couldn't take it anymore and simply gave up.

It’s 2045, and historians are exploring the past with a new methodology: time travel. Oxford tutor Mr. Dunworthy is worrying about his student Kivrin, who is about to go back to 1320 Oxfordshire despite his grave misgivings about the dangers she might encounter. They do the “drop,” but something goes wrong. Is Kivrin really in 1320? Can she find the rendez-vous spot in time to go back to 2045? Can Mr. Dunworthy overcome political and bureaucratic obstacles in time to bring her home? Meanwhile, both of them find themselves in the middle of community crises where outside help is sought but never comes through and people have to count on one another.Maybe I’m just hearing what I need to hear right now, but this book was about having faith in our fellow human beings. And about the importance of living up to the faith others put in us. About caring and community and refusing to give up on one another.I loved the details in this story, especially the bells that tie together the past and the present/future and communicate the rhythms, peaks, and valleys of human experience. I also related to the main characters. The middle portion of the story dragged quite a bit as Kivrin and Mr. Dunworthy both struggle to solve their respective problems and are repeatedly thwarted, but I felt thoroughly rewarded for my patience in the end.

The Doomsday Book starts with an intriguing idea, but misses the opportunity to truly entertain. As many other reviewers have pointed out, the major plot turns are driven by people not being able to contact each other, or fainting before they can reveal "the answer". This is extremely frustrating for a reader to encounter, over and over.I wondered as I read, "why did Ms. Willis write this book? What's the point? After I finish it, what will I say this book did well?" The answer, apparently: to allow the reader to experience the desperation and hopelessness that plague-ravished towns in rural Europe went through during the 14th century. If the Amazon blurb had said this, I wouldn't have bought it.

Some of the characters are pretty well developed and many are just cardboard. The characters in the "present day" are mostly unbearably obnoxious stereotypes and the "story line" is tedious. Time travel back to the medieval period and the story is more interesting (but not gripping) and so are the main characters but there are plenty of stereotypes there too.

It's been my intention to read Doomsday Book for many years now. Having finally done so, I regret the wait. As others have pointed out over the years, this is a unique take on the concept of time travel. The details of the process are handled deftly without bogging the story down with loads of exposition on imaginary science. They can send historians back in time and there are limits and risks. The characters running the show speak in familiar terms of "fixes" and "slippage," and the context makes the meaning clear. On with the story which is equal parts commentary on human behavior in a crisis, with some characters slipping into near mindless defensive postures while others rise to the occasion. At its heart it's something of a coming of age story, in which a naive and enthusiastic young historian learns a very hard lesson. This isn't always an easy story to read, but given the period of time to which the historian travels, there's no way it could be a light tale, not if the story is to be told honestly. Very well done! I won't be waiting years to read another novel by the author.

I'm halfway through this and so far, it feels like 5% amazing guidance/advice and 95% fluff (or at most 10/90) Great advice, but after the first 5 chapters or so, I just had to go to a skim/scan approach - just too long-winded and repetitive. BUT - there's some really wonderful and inspiring guidance in there, if you don't mind having to wade thru the mediocre story-telling in between.UPDATE: Just finished it. Wow. Writing that is often so bad that I laughed out loud; fiction is NOT Mr Sharma's gift and hard to understand how his editor would allow this to be published in it's current form. Forced dialogue, shallow characters, overall clumsy storytelling. (And I just read another reviewer say it's the best book he's ever read !??!!!??? He must be fairly new to reading, or otherwise have not been exposed to any skillful storytelling.)And yet - there are some lovely, powerful ideas here. Nothing new - all of this familiar and timeless advice is available many other places - but a decent compendium of useful guidance and tips on achievement, habit development, life in general and a variety of personal growth/development ideas. This would have been a GREAT and really useful 20 page eBook guide if stripped of the shallow, repetitive, awkward storytelling. So I guess I'll stick with my 3 star review, tho if there was a 2.5 option available, I'd have chosen that.PS: Recently finished James Clear's "Atomic Habits" - excellent. The scope of that book is narrower than this book, but TERRIFIC habit formation and related advice.

I really like Robin Sharma’s ideas and web content, but this reads like a bad novel. Unfortunately not worth the read, stick with his other content.

What amazes me most is the severe negative reviews by some. I can only assume they were hoping to buy a book that actually gave them a SIMPLE solution to build a better life. It's mind blowing when you read some of them. It's very clear that either they can't read, or didn't read much of the book. But I go back to the fact that like many....They are looking for an easy way to build an epic life. And for those of you hoping that just getting up at 5 a.m. will transform your life??? It's better than wasting away like many do getting up at 7,8,9 or 10......But.....NO, the act of getting up at 5 a.m. or early will be a step in the right direction but it's only the start. For those that have ever read or listened to Robin you will find just about EVERY principle he has ever taught in this book. You will also find WHY those principles WORK. There is a reason Robin is not only living an Epic Life, but has helped lead many to that life. It starts with WORK.... Yes you have to Work. But it's also important to understand the physiology, psychology, and neurology by those that are at the cutting edge in these areas. YES that stuff is in this book. It's also vital to understand, as Robin mentions in the book it takes 66 days to form habits. By the fact the book has only been out a couple of weeks, apparently the results for the negative reviewers after a few days of implementation wasn't enough to transform their lives. I am laughing as I type this (hahahaha). I guess reading Arnolds book on Body Building better give me the results I've always wanted after a week or NEGATIVE reviews for his book will be spewed by day 8. I am only focusing on the negative reviewers because it's a joke the way they have analyzed The 5 a.m. Club.I will simply close with the advice I give my patients and those I coach in the real world. Do the work and SEE if it works!!! It's as simple as that. The knowledge and tools are all in this book. The effort to follow Robin's guidance will be MONUMENTAL if you do it. It won't be easy but it will transform your life. Don't believe me. Do it for 66 days then write your review.

I will just start off by saying this is quite possibly the best book I have read and I am an avid book reader. I would give it 10 stars if I could. In addition to the life lessons that I took away from this book, the story was incredible. I was waiting for this book since I pre ordered it and in no way did it disappoint and it even exceeded my exceptions. I haven’t read all of Robin’s other work but what I have read is The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari and the Secret Letter’s of the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, both amazing books and would highly recommend those as well. I am very excited to start implementing Robin’s teachings in this book to transform my life. In addition to the book, you also have access to an app that will help you on the journey to mastery that is offered for FREE. It is a no brainer to purchase this book if you are serious about taking control of your life. It might be hard at first to implement change but as Robin pointed out, all the legends and heroes and icons of society went through some type of suffering to get to where they are. There is so many more lessons you will get from this book I promise you that if you study it. I can’t wait to pay this book forward to anyone I can

Let me start by saying this is only the 2nd time I have EVER reviewed anything on Amazon. I am usually loathe to say anything bad about anyone. But, I heard his podcast on Lewis Howes and was SO excited to read this book. Spent $17 or so bucks on the Audible version, and it is so awful. I'm going to plow through it because I spent the money, and I do believe there must be some nuggets of wisdom underneath the tedious writing, especially since I've been trying to get up earlier and earlier. Also, the narrator is one of my favorites (I adored him in "Daily Rituals: How Artists Work") but it is so horribly overwrought. Ugh. I'm breaking all my rules here about being critical of others, but I truly feel ripped off, and I don't want anyone else to waste their hard earned money. Listen to the podcast. Great ideas. I so wish he'd just stuck to the non-fiction laying out of such great info. Sorry!

A charming and original story; still read by elementary school teachers. Check out movie, "The Blind Side" to understand just how effective this sweet tale can be on even a teenager's psyche.

The current release of this book -- published by Grosset & Dunlap -- is significantly abridged from the original. The current edition is about 20% smaller and has fewer than half the number of pages (32 versus 68). The original, high-quality Viking editions placed text and illustrations in a layout that let the story breathe -- the amount of text on each page and the space within the drawings set the pace of the story. Well, Grosset & Dunlap "fixed" that: they hacked away at the illustrations (when they didn't omit them altogether) and then packed the text into whatever empty space they could find inside the illustrations themselves. The result has the same relationship with the original as an orange peel has to an orange -- the color and shape remain, but all the juice has been squeezed out.If you care at all about quality, find your kid a copy of the Viking edition instead. Borrow it from a library if you must. But stay far away from this edition unless-and-until the publisher fires the imbecile who decided to release this ersatz "classic" and brings back the original as it was meant to be read and enjoyed.

The story itself is a classic and for that it's great. But this is an abridged version, which is not at all clear when you go to buy it. That really irked me. You think you're getting a super deal at Four bucks, but you're not. You're getting half the pages.

One of my biggest joys - during the seven years I spent babysitting our grandsons - was sharing reading time with them. My daughter-in-law became a full-time-mom a year and a half ago so my opportunities to do it are now limited to visits and the occasional sleepover, but it doesn't mean we can't still contribute to the growing children's library in their own home! Having purchased a nice children's book case for them last Christmas, it's our intention to fill it with time-honored classics. I found "The Story of Ferdinand" among Amazon's list of "100 Children's Books to Read in a Lifetime", and am ashamed to say I had never heard of this book that's been around for 80 years now and was the #1 book in America - topping Gone with the Wind! - the year it was first published (1936).From what I've read, bullfighting is steeped in Hispanic identity in many parts of the world, considered more of a cultural event - a highly ritualized art form rather than a bloodsport. I must say that for me personally, though it's important to respect each culture's heritage, I would never have purchased a book about bullfighting - especially for our grandsons! But that is NOT what this book is about... as I read it, it is much more about resisting conforming to what's seen as the being the "norm" if it goes against who you are, regardless of what others say or do to provoke you or attempt to force you into submission. I'd read enough about the book to know that the majority of it centered around the peaceful nature of Ferdinand (only three pages reference what I consider the gruesome progression of torture a bull experiences in the ring - the Banderilleros with long sharp pins, the Picadores with long spears, and the Matador with his sword), with that innate peacefulness being what spares him. This is certainly not a book most children these days will be used to, with its completely black and white illustrations, but - for the right age - a child who's ready to focus more on a story line versus needing lots of bright colors to hold his/her attention, the illustrations do a beautiful job of reflecting the gentleness of Ferdinand, who much prefers to "sit just quietly and smell the flowers" while the other bulls run and jump around, butting heads, and his wise mother who - though occasionally worried about him and what he may face by not conforming to the norm - understood that he was happy. When some men come to pick "the biggest, fastest, roughest bull" to fight in Madrid, Ferdinand accidentally sits on a bee, which of course stings him, and his resulting puffing, snorting, butting and pawing catches the eye of the men, who bring him to Madrid. But after entering the ring, Ferdinand simply runs to the middle of the ring and sits down, quite content to just enjoy the smell of the flowers in all of the female attendees' hair - most certainly not the type of bull they wanted for a fight, so they take Ferdinand back home... where "He is very happy."My take from the book is that it's true message is the power of peace.

I was quite disappointed in this book. I bought this for a three year old who just loves the movie and always asks to watch ‘the bull.’ I read several reviews that stated this version was not great and to find the original unabridged version. I wish I would have done that, but I could not find one. While the book came quickly and in perfect condition, the content is what is disappointing. I find children’s book reviews most helpful when they include pictures of the content so the parents know what they are getting. I have included a few photos to give you an idea of what you’re getting. Very simple words and graphics, which is to be expected for children’s book. It is so shortened and not well written, it is a grave disappointment. I admit I saw the movie before I read the book, and maybe that added to my disappointment. The graphics aren’t that appealing to my toddler, and they are in black and white. The story isn’t near as heart warming and sweet as the movie, and it speaks nothing of Ferdinand’s personality, just that he prefers to smell flowers and sit. If I were you, I would take the time to research and find the unabridged better edition. Perhaps the one referenced in the movie Blindside, as the version she read in that movie sounded much more appealing than this version. I will keep it because it was relatively inexpensive, but note that it was a disappointment to both myself and my toddler, who, like me I’m sure, was expecting to get a description of a sweet and soulful bill who did not feel the need to fight others to prove his worth and instead found comfort in the small joys of life.

I am old enough to have watched the original Disney movie "Ferdinand The Bull - 1938" (Oscar for Best Animated Short Subject ) on a B/W TV set. Loved it and so my parents bought me the book. And, now I bought the book as a gift. Because I still love this book.Delighted to discover this edition that features the original drawings by Robert Lawson (illustrator), I am not a friend of the new Disney animations that have every animal and character look the same, with big googley eyes. In contrast, Lawson's drawings shows mature animals. The details are charming. It's a classic. While I am sure that Disney will offer their Disney version, I think all children should see the beautiful original.5 stars,Gisela Hausmann, author and blogger
