It starts out fine then got more and more ambiguous. Not abstract, ambiguous. It ends by presenting some number, usually a decimal, then by way of saying something previously discussed, it turns into this number. Never did tell where to find this or that, etc. just present it and assume the reader knows precisely what the devil he's talking about. I don't recall the last time when I have read through a chapter that takes only a half hour over and over for three hours and not able to grasp an inkling of the logic flow the author is trying to get at. Apparently I'm not the only one. The last few chapters [9-11] stumped most if not our entire class assembly and more than one book exercises left out pertinent information necessary to solve the problems. The professors equally stumped on a few because while the exercises left those critical values out, but the solutions manual had them in. I have not had a finance textbook lose this many points since I started College.

One of the single worst textbooks I have ever used, bar none. God forbid you need this textbook. Concepts are laid out deliberately confusing as well as in an extremely vague form. The content flows by at a blistering pace that attempts to pack a 2 year degree into a few hundred poorly explained pages. The test bank and test questions are 100% locatable online, and are 100% intentionsally written in a way to lower your score if you attempt to work through this is any sort of legitamate fashion.Absolutely ridiculous.

About the Author
Mikko Nikinmaa got his high school diploma (International Baccalaureate) from the United World College of the Atlantic, Llantwit Major, U.K. His university education including the Ph. D. degree he accomplished at University of Helsinki, Finland. He did postdoctoral work in Odense University, Denmark, and Stanford University, USA. Thereafter he worked in the University of Helsinki with research visits to University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1995 he was appointed Professor of Zoology in the University of Turku. He was the President of Scandinavian Physiological Society in 1994-1996, and a member of National Research Council of Environment and Natural Resources in 1995-1997. He served as a Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 2000-2004, and was the director of the Center of Excellence in Evolutionary Genetics and Physiology (appointed by the Academy of Finland) in 2006-2011. He has been chief editor of Aquatic Toxicology since 2004 and subject (respiratory and comparative physiology) editor of Acta Physiologica since 1997. Presently he is editorial board member in four journals. His approximately 200 publications include a book on Vertebrate Red Blood Cells published by Springer and a review on Membrane Transport and the Control of Haemoglobin Oxygen Affinity in Physiological Reviews. He has reviewed grant applications to agencies from more than ten different countries, and served as an evaluator of academic positions in USA, Canada, U.K., Sweden, South Africa and Finland. More than 30 journals have used him as peer reviewer. His research interests lie in how environmental changes, particularly temperature, oxygen and toxicants, affect cellular functions especially in fish. An important aspect of research is environmental regulation of gene expression, for example how toxicants, oxygen and temperature changes affect transcription, translation and protein stability.

About the Author
Sharon Preves is the Chair of the Sociology Department and an Associate Professor at Hamline University. She is interested in the structure of social privilege based on gender, power, and normative position. Her research focuses include medical ethics, gender, and sexuality. Jeylan T. Mortimer is a Professor at the University of Minnesota. Her current research is centered on the "Youth Development Study", supported by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, which examines pathways through the transition to adulthood, mental health and attainment, and how parental trajectories from adolescence to adulthood influence their children.
